Mommesilk silk sleep mask is made from 100% pure and natural mulberry silk. Due to the delicate nature of this handmade product, please handle with love and care for maximum sustainability.
Only wash when necessary
Spot clean with lukewarm water. There is no need to wash your sleep mask every time you have used them. We recommend that you wash it only when necessary. You can clean the surface of your eye mask with a damp cloth or machine wash occasionally on a delicate setting at 30 degrees using a mild detergent. Hang dry after spot-cleaned.
Thorough cleaning
We recommend professional dry clean which can prolong the lifespan of silk, but it can also be achieved if you follow the instructions for washing silk. Use detergent which is specifically designed to care for silk items. Please follow the instruction on the bottle as well. There is no need for fabric softener (which is harmful to the environment, anyway).
Iron at low temperature
Dry naturally and iron on a cool setting if needed.
Hang the silk eye mask to dry
Hang item or lay flat to dry. Hang dry if possible; however, avoid direct sunlight exposure.
How do you hand wash a silk mask?
If you’re worried about how to clean your silk sleep mask without damaging the delicate fibers, simply follow our easy three-step hand washing guide. From washing to drying your mask, the entire process is short and simple and will leave your silk eye mask feeling as soft as ever.
Step 1 - Fill a basin with lukewarm water that is around 30 degrees. Never boil your silk eye mask as the high temperature will damage the material. Once you have the correct temperature, add some silk-safe detergent to the basin (follow the instructions on the bottle to determine how much to add).
Step 2 - Submerge your silk eye mask into the water and detergent mix and very gently wash with your hands. Step 3 - Once you’ve hand washed your silk eye mask, remove it from the basin to line dry. Do not tumble dry as this can create wrinkles and creases in your freshly washed silk, instead it is much safer to hang up your silk mask to air dry out of direct sunlight.
What detergent is safe for silk??
As mentioned above, the best method for cleaning your silk eye mask is with a mild detergent that has been specially formulated to protect the natural qualities of silk. Though it may be a tempting way to try and remove stains, you should never use bleach on your silk face mask. This is because bleach can inflict lasting damage on your silk eye mask by disintegrating the delicate fibers and causing the beautiful colour to fade.
When it comes to finding a good silk detergent to use, it’s a simple case of visiting your local supermarket and looking for mild detergents made for silk and other delicate materials. Alternatively, you can purchase MOMMESILK’s own Liquid Silk Wash which has been made for the specific purpose of protecting the colour and softness of your MOMMESILK silk products.

Generally speaking, silk will soothe the delicate skin around your eyes and the tightly woven, and very smooth silk fibres will help keep your skin moisturized and make you wake up the next morning with fresh hydrated skin, ready for a new day. We hope that these guidelines will help you keep your silk sleep mask for a long time.
